The mysterious metal ball has been the subject of much speculation ever since it appeared on Hamamatsu Beach.
Japanese authorities are puzzling over the mystery of a strange metal ball discovered this week on Enshu Beach on the Pacific coast. When it was first reported there were fears it might be some kind of bomb, prompting police to bring in explosives experts to investigate signs it might be a threat.
Fortunately, X-rays of the object showed it was hollow, but the mystery of what exactly it is and where it came from remains unsolved.
About 1.5 meters in diameter, the rusty orange-and-brown sphere appears to be made of metal and has two handles at the top, suggesting it may have become snagged on something.
Since then, photos have been sent to the Japan Coast Guard and Self-Defence Forces to determine what it could be.
According to a local, the globe had been there for a month and was surprised to suddenly find it in the spotlight. You can video of the article in the report below.
